HowTo Set-UP Xlink Kai for Psp [Planex GW-US54GXS Wireless LAN USB Adapter ONLY]

Disclaimer: Please note these instructions are yours to follow at your own discretion, and i don't bear any responsibilities for any damages caused to your COMPUTER or PSP or any other relevant devices. This is tested under WinXP only. Please dont follow this if u are a linux or Mac OSX user.

First and foremost, xlink kai is a SOFTWARE that allows PSP users to communicate with each other online ( it is not a hardware ). Planex GW-US54GXS Wireless LAN USB Adapter is the hardware that communicates with your PSP Wifi so that u can play with other PSP users online.

Installation of Planex GW-US54GXS Wireless LAN USB Adapter

Get your Planex GW-US54GXS Wireless LAN USB Adapter from your local distributor.

After u got your adapter, it should come with a installation CD-ROM. DO NOT plug in your usb adapter first. You need to run the installation CD to install the utility for the adapter. Simply put the CD into your CD-ROM drive, and select Microsoft Zero Configuration Tool, and click YES or NEXT or CONTINUE ANYWAY or FINISH.
!! Please note that you need to have administrator rights in order to run the installation!!

Next, u can proceed to plug in your usb adapter and for 3 windows prompt will appear. Click on install the software automatically , continue anyway , and finish . And you are done with the installation part of the usb adapter. It's best if u reboot your computer after this.

After you have rebooted, goto Start -> Control Panel -> System Hardware -> Device Manager -> Network Adapters. You should see PCI-US54GMini2 under Network adapters section if the installation is successful.

Configuration of Planex GW-US54GXS Wireless LAN USB Adapter

U need to plug in your usb adapter before doing anything. Please switch off your laptop wireless or wifi , and unplug any LAN cable to avoid any confusion.
If your native laptop wireless is ON , you will have 2 wireless network connection. This would pose a problem as u would need to identify which wireless network is associated with your Planex GW-USS54GXS Wireless LAn USB Adapter.

Assuming you have removed any LAN cables and disable your laptop native wireless connection, you should see only ONE wireless network connection appearing on the lower-right side of your desktop.
If you see 2 wireless network, this means you need to disable your laptop native wireless manually.

Double-click the wireless connection, and go to Properties ( located at lower-left of your connection window) and click on Configure. You should see a window titled PCI-GW-USS4Mini2 ( subjected to the model of the usb adapter u are using) popping up. You need to go to Advanced and select PSP Xlink Mode. Select Enable under the Value option. Click OK.

Double-click your wireless connection again, and go to Properties, and click on Advanced. Please CHECK the option allow other network users to connect through this computer's internet connection. Click Ok. Reboot your computer.

Installation of Xlink Kai

You can download it from http://www.teamxlink.co.uk/?go=download
Choose your OS version if u are a windows user or a Mac OSX user.
You would need to register an account from http://www.teamxlink.co.uk in order to play and interact with other psp users.

Install Xlink Kai after your download is completed.

Configuration of Xlink Kai

After rebooting, ( and assuming you have installed Xlink Kai ) , run the Start Kai Config Tool. You need to enter your username and password ( please register an Xlink Kai account at http://www.teamxlink.co.uk if you have not done so ).

Please check the options circled shown below

Monster Hunter Freedom 2 Users

If you are playing Monster Hunter Freedom 2, please make sure that ad-hoc is enabled under Network Settings for your PSP, before starting your game. Enter the online guildhall first. ( PSP Wifi must be on )

Plug in your Planex GW-US54GXS Wireless LAN USB Adapter, and search for wireless network available. You should see a network named PSPXXXXXXXXX. Double-click the network to connect to it.

Once it's connected successfully, start Xlink Kai. Go to Diagnostic Mode by clicking on the Magnifying Glass Icon located beside the Question Mark icon located at the top left of the Xlink Kai window. Click on the Folder Icon below the Question Mark Icon. You should see Sony PSP successfully configured at the left of the window.

*to reach these spots in area 2, climb all the way up to the top ledge, then drop down on a ledge to the left when facing the void. Then drop down on another ledge slightly to the right for the mining point or JUMP (hold "R"while pressing forward) all the way to the left ledge for the herb spot.

**Embroidered Flag: to use this, go to area 8, climb all the way up to the Kushal mining point, then climb even higher on the ledge opposite to the mining point. Use the flag, which will be raised and you'll acquire 3000 treasure points.

Materia Mixing

Heres how to make ultima flare electric shock and energy.
Note- (M) means mastered. (1) means materia slot 1 and (2)means materia slot 2. Order is important.

electric shock different to thunder. Combine dash (2) with the 3 times Thunder (1)

Flare: is goblin punch, dash, magical punch(2) with elecric shock(M).(1)

Ultima : in one of the shops u can buy materia (light purple) which increases the rate of your a limit break-sephiroth cloud aeris etc, combine this (1) with electric shock(M) or with 3 times Thundaga Firga Bulizaga(2)

Energy: electric shock (M) (1) with Flare (2).

For combinations 135 to 140, two treasures are needed. These can only be
completed during treasure hunts.

For the Mountain, the small snowball is located in area 1, up on the ledge,
mining in area 3, the mushrooms in area 3, and the bees nest in area 4, or
the plants in area 5
for the large snowball, search on the ledge in area 6, the camp in area 7,
there are 2 spots there, and directly to your right as you enter from 6.
also, if you destroy the rock blocking the path to the Kushal skin in area 8,
the plants there have the large snowball.

For the jungle, the crown fragments can be found in area 1, above the mining
spot, the plant just north of the entrace to 5, the entrace to 9 in area 3,
the shell and the plant in area 4, and the middle of area 5. the broken cat
crown can be found in area 6, between the entrances to area 7 and 8, the dung
in area 8, as well as the nest.In area 10, you can also find it in the spiderweb

For the desert, Swordless hilts can be found in area 1, to your right from area
2, right up against the wall to your right from base in area 2, the spot next to
the entrace to 9 in area 5, the two spots next to each other in area 8.
for hiltless swords, mining in area 4, mining in 7, the top right corner of 9,
and mining in area 10

For swamp, bottomless pots can be found in area 5, towards the bottom right,
near the entrace to the caves in 6, mining in 7, bugnetting in 8, as well as
searching the bottom right plant.
pot bottoms are located in areas 3 through mining, and the rocks in area 9, as
well as the top left most mushrooms in area 4.

For FnH, the chachabu mask is located to your left as you enter 2 from 1, the
ivy in area 2, up on the ledge in 4, the bees nest in 7, the plants next to the
mushies in area 10, or carved from Chachabus
the Mask hole filler is carved from Rathian, carved from Chachabus, or mined in
area 6,and the bottom of the waterfall in area 11.

For the Volcano, the Book cover is located from mining in area 1, beyond the
rock of area 2, digging near the center south of area 3, the top of area 4,
and mining in area 5.
for the book contents, mine in area 3, the rocks in area 6, near the lava in
area 7, and gathering in area 8, the only spot without the need of pickaxes.

Now here's a *very* brief installation guide to build kaid in Ubuntu (also debian based):
1. Download and extract the tar.gz file mentioned above
2. Goto main extraction directory (/path/to/extracted/file/ends/with/kaid-7.0.0.7)
3. sudo apt-get install g++
4. cd pthreadcc
5. make
6. sudo make install
7. cd ../libpcap
8. Use Synaptic Package Manager to install the flex package
9. Use Synaptic Package Manager to install bison package
10. ./configure
11. make
12. sudo make install
13. cd ../socketcc
14. make
15. sudo make install
16. cd ..
17. make (kaid executable is now created)
18. sudo cp kaid.conf /etc/.
19. sudo ./kaid
